Layout 1: Rainbow
1/8/09-1/30/09

This was Demi Style Source’s first layout. After about a month of working with blogspot, a friend of mine helped me get the site hosted. I was introduced to WordPress, and didn’t know much about layout making. I chose one of WordPress’s layouts hosted on the site, entitled Manhattan. Originally the banner was, obviously, a photo of Manhattan. Demi had just posted pictures of her and Honor Society and Tiffany Thornton on myspace, so I opted for a personal photo kind of layout. There were a few issues with the layout that I was still figuring out, but it probably was one of my favorite layouts.
Layout 2: Valentine’s
1/31/09-2/25/09

I was finally starting to experiment with other layouts, and this was a result. I wanted to do something red and Valentine’s-y, but also Sonny With A Chance, because this was the month that the show premiered. I had given the site viewers an option between this layout and another, image here, which focused on Shane and Mitchie, and had a darker red theme. I had done the losing layout first, and still had an attachment to it. This was one of the many layouts that were created but never featured on the website.
Layout 3: Don’t Forget Deluxe Edition
2/26/09-3/29/09

This was a huge layout for me. I had found a new site to work with layouts off of, Divirgente, and they were great bases to start learning how to create layouts off of. This layout was also the first one to be featured under the site’s new domain, www.demistylesource.com. Demi’s Deluxe Edition of Don’t Forget was going to be released, and the photos were just absolutely gorgeous. As you can see, I wanted to use as many as possible. During this time, I saw a lot of firsts, such as 10,000 hits, a lot of viewers, and the introduction of hair and makeup guides.
Layout 4: Don’t Forget Music Video
3/30/09-4/16/09

This layout was drastically different. I was actually donated the header, which was abolutely GORGEOUS, by Nancilyn, an amazing visitor. It had literally taken forever to find a layout from Divirgente to work with it, but eventually it came together beautifully. There are definitely some things I would’ve fixed, such as the background image, but I wasn’t experienced enough to do that. Either way, it was an amazing experience to be donated a header and see that people were taking an active interest in the site.
Layout 5: Don’t Forget(Summer Tour)
4/17/09-5/20/09

This layout was a bit of a first for me. I really has just used a layout from divirgente as a basis, but really changed everything around on it, such as the colors, and really started experimenting the what I could do with the site. This layout was based on Demi’s Summer Tour, which had just been announced. I attended 3 concerts(did not get to meet her), and had a really great time. I liked the complexity of the elements of the layout, but there was a simplicity to it as well, as there was only one photo of Demi to use. Also, during this time, the DSS Twitter was created. It is the most popular Twitter for a Demi fashion site as of December 2009.
Layout 6: Peruvian Concert
5/21/09-7/13/09

This layout was also a big first for me. I had successfully figured out how to put the navigation in the header. It had taken forever to figure out, but I finally had. This had to be one of my favorite layouts for DSS. The textured background was gorgeous, and the pictures just blended so amazingly with the layout. I had also really worked to start coding completely, using Divirgente as just a guide(which I still do). The pictures came from Demi’s concert in Peru, when she accompanied the Jonas Brothers on the beginning of their World Tour. I also think the site started getting a lot more attention now, which was just amazing. During this time I had also started working on Swift Style, which wasn’t up and running until the end of August, which goes to show how long I had been working on the site. This layout was also one of the longest layouts(a month and a half) featured on DSS.
Layout 7: HWGA Pink
7/14/09-8/19/09

This is probably my favorite layout. I had found a layout on Divirgente I had never used, but kinda fell in love with. I also adored the Ashley Barrett photoshoot Demi did for WWD. So with that, I experimented once again with one photo and graphics really giving the site pop, instead of more pictures. Demi had just been about to release her second studio album, which was really amazing. I had found a new obsession with hot pink so I edited Demi’s sunglasses to pink instead of red. I just loved the new style of the layout, and I really learned a lot about coding and placement working on this layout. This same style is also featured in Tiffany Couture’s current layout.
Layout 8: Summer Tour
8/20/09-10/12/09

This layout was introduced on Demi’s 17 birthday, along with a giant update, that I posted when I hit 400 followers on the DSS Twitter. I had realized I hadn’t used any photos from Demi’s tour, so I found some amazing shots from someone, who granted me permission to use on the site. I also had been posting my concert photos and videos of the concerts I went to, one of which was the day after this layout came up. It also was a layout that featured a higher sidebar, which I hadn’t done since the original layout. This layout was the first layout that I created almost completely by myself, using the coding basis from divirgente. Also, right after this layout was posted, Swift Style was finally opened to the public. This layout was the longest layout featured, beating the Pink HWGA layout by one day.
Layout 9: Kickin’ It Old School
10/13/09-11-11/09

I had left the decision for the next layout up to twitter followers, and they had requested two things: old photos, and concert photos. So I combined the two for a blast from the past for visitors; I used images from Demi’s June 2008 concert in New York. I wanted to make a banner that was image heavy, since I really hadn’t done one in months. This was a greay layout, since I even created the background image. It was a dark layout, which I hadn’t had in a long time.
Layout 10: Simplicity Remember December
11/12/09-12/1/09

This layout didn’t really stay up long, because the holidays were coming, but this layout was really different than all of them. This one was just one photo, no special effects. I loved the photo, and the simplicity of the grey background and the image of her. The font was also neat, because it was a custom one that someone made to look like the font from Selena Gomez & The Scene’s album font.
Layout 11: Here We Go For The Holidays
12/2/09-1/7/10

For the holidays, I wanted the layout to be cheery, but not necessarily too Christmas-y or cheesy. I also wanted the photos to be current, because the last Christmas photos Demi had done was in 2008. So I used the HWGA album shoot, because the bow and disco ball could be easily manipulated color-wise. I also loved that one photo that had confetti falling, because it looked like snow, so I added snow to the other photos. This was also the first layout with the fan-sites.org crossover, so I added the celebuzz banner to the top. I really liked the colors that I finally rested on, which had been difficult to figure out.
Layout 12: Blue Shore
1/8/10-4/11/2010
This layout was created with the one year anniversary of the site in mind. I wanted the layout to have some great new photos, and just have a nice look to it. I found some really cool stock images for the back, and really fell in love with it. I introduced a ton of new things with this layout; it was probably the biggest update since the beginning.
Layout 13: Bubbles
4/12/10-5/30/10
After having the last layout up forever, the site needed a change. I had been working with someone to get a layout together since Feb but it wasn’t happening. (Eventually it did get finished, but I wasn’t satisfied with the final product, so it never made it up on the site) The site had been put on a small hiatus in March through April, and I just wanted to come back with a bang. The update the layout was introduced was actually the update with the 1000th guide. Such an amazing feat, I was so proud. This layout was the first venture into a two sided layout, which I really liked because it made things a bit easier. This layout was probably one of my favorites, mostly because of the header. I continually edited that header and it just fell together. It was amazing.
Layout 14: New York Golden
5/31/10-7/31/10
This layout came kinda sudden, but I loved it. I had been working on a new twitter layout, and adored Demi’s look in these NY candids. So when I made the layout and fell in love, I knew that a layout with these would just be perfect. The look was pretty simple, and I kinda threw the layout together, but it was such a good one. It was perfect for the summer, with the golden hues, and to me, it really sparkled. It lasted two months(as you can see, the layouts keep lasting longer, simply because of time issues with me), but it was so lovely, I really had to keep it up.
